Avro Shackleton MR.2 Airfix 1:72

Thanks to Thomas Neuß my Shackleton now sits on a beautiful display base! Of course, this was made primarily for our table at the next scale model exhibition. But as we have to do without those for a while it looks nice in my living room, too! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Perhaps I overdid the exhaust marks a bit. But then again there are photos of really filthy Shacks. 

 

A washing with diluted grey oil paint has been applied. 

All decals on. All the stencils took quite some time. 

One of my favourites: decal work has begun. 

Paintjob done! The white on white and the size of the model don't make this easy to photograph. 

From now on this will be a handful to handle... 

The Shackleton is famous for its rivets. Airfix didn't do them so this is a feast for the Rivet-R Mini from RB Productions. 

Though I have bought quite a few precut masking sets for different "future projects" this is the first time I'm using one. A real treat! 

Detail work on the interior is kept at a minimum as close to nothing will be visible after the model is completed.
