City church
1April 6, 2026In an old Faller book about building a model railway, I saw a picture of a church next to some houses from the Beethoven Strasse. As I have these houses, the church seemed a good addition to my lay-out. The only problem was, the book was old and the church was no longer in the catalogue. But I discovered the kit number and a shop nearby still had it on offer.
So here is the result! My wife suggested to put the Gasthof next to the church. This is what you often see in Germany. Not because the church-goers needed a drink, but because the monks ran both the church and the pub!
2April 6, 2026Because this model has beautiful stained windows, my wife suggested to put in a light (where would I be without my wife: she is my greatest supporter!)
And yes, the result is lovely. I also bought some stonewalls and some gravestones, plus a couple about to get married, so the scene is complete! The road is just paper, to check out how everything fits. The blue paper stripe behind the church is the traject of a future rail extension, running from the main-station to a station a bit higher up. Not until that traject will be finished, I will start fixing all the buildings in a definitive place.
