10/10 for perseverance!
You race and rally car guys, are nuts! Decals are my biggest headache. I'd rather do a mural with my airbrush, than tackle decals. They just never go on, exactly how they're supposed to? I don't know how you guys do it???

I hate working with decals. And my masking isn't exactly good. Not to mention my shaking hand with a brush 🙈 I'm impressed so far and will stay here

I've been up and down on my attitude towards decals. I think it depends on the quality of the decals, the size of the decals and the harshness of the contours they need to go over. The Peugeot 205 I built in 2021 had the worst decals I've ever encountered. They disintegrated as soon as they touched water. It was like doing a jigsaw made of tiny decal fragments. That knocked my confidence for ages afterwards. But I've also had some kits with huge decals that have gone on without issue.

I'm going to keep going as the decals are what really make it come alive for me and go from a fairly pedestrian car to something special.

Take a look at this, for decals.
I look at this album often, when I get in a bind. Martin went to God Status, after this. He did a build log too, if you boys do a quick search of his albums...

Decals can be a breeze when they're nice and fresh, for me at least. Old and fragile decals can be a real pain, and so can very tiny decals. Big decals don't scare me anymore, the Renault Magnum Ice Truck I did years ago came out very nicely. It just requires water, patience, decalsoftner and a clear coat afterwards. Speaking of patience, it seems to me that much of your clumsiness can be contributed to impatience? Been there, with each build I do there are several moments in which I really need to constrain myself not to go too fast and get fingerprints all over in the paint for example. You certainly know how to save it each time!

Bozzer, oh wow that truck is something amazing.

Sander, you are 100% right I am very impatient with my builds. I have so little free time and so many chores etc to fit in when I do have time off so I just want to get as much modelling done as I can when I can. The 205 build I mentioned above was the turning point for me, I was having so much trouble trying to get that terrible kit looking good that it just wasn't fun. At that point I realised the quality of the finished model wasn't important to me it was just the process of building it that I enjoyed. Since then I've been a lot more slap dash and I am enjoying the hobby so much more.
