Sopwith Camel

A very simple little kit. Not many details. But the fitting of the parts and the casting is quite nice.

...In retrospect I should have waited with the landing gear... 

 

 

 

Wanted to try to make rigging from the sprues this time. (Old-shool-modelling 🙂 Had to experiment a b it to make it work. Here's what I came up wih; Cut a small part of the sprue. Heat it really good with a heat-gun.. 

Now it's hot and soft. (looks a bit like a ....) 😉 

While hot, stretch with a couple of pliers to make it very thin.  

 

It takes a bit of trial and error, but this will be OK, and will last for many models in 1:72! 

Top wing is not glued at this stage. 

Applied a white primer-base.

Applying the chrome. Thechrome effect will be toned down later in the weathering process

Decided to try some pre-shading with the little Tamiyasets rather than airbrush. 

Worked OK, but perhaps a bit too subtile 

 

Don't really like the included decals. The white ring outside the roundels is missing. And the colours of the fin-decals is the wrong way around. I'll paint it instead! 

Using my Silouette Cameo 5 to cut some masks.  

Quite a bit of tweaking before finding the correct size...
