Not sure how it's chosen which kits and tools on Scalemates are also visible on Railwaymates, but I notice rather many military kits on the startpage. While the kit below is civilian and correct scale, but not shown on Railwaymates. Is it decided on brand level or individually when new tools are entered? I noticed this one today:

When adding a product on railwaymates there is a lot of noise from types which should never be added.

eg. action figures, RC kits, toys, slotcars

This makes data entry a bit more cumbersome

Hide product types based on the site you are adding things.

30% Larger Thumbnails! I made some minor design changes enlarging the thumbnails. Agreed, it is not a major change, but like on a scale model, even a subtle adjustment can make a visual difference.

Hi Tim, a project I created on railwaymates, I think?, I am trying to add it to a new layout “Denver and Swansea”, but when I go to add it, it doesn’t appear.

Also when you create a layout the button says “add collection”

Show the Gauge field next to the scale in product teasers

Gauge will not be shown on scenery objects not relevant to the Gauge.
eg. A tree will only have scale 1:87 and no Gauge.

This might do your head in Tim. Could we link the Books section with World Cat, which is the world's largest bibliographic database, in some way. I use World Cat for my own professional library (I'm an archaeologist and historian) and it can be quick and easy to download references and add them to my End Notes library. This might be quicker and more accurate for books. Not sure how to implement it but its a thought.

Because scalemates is more popular the Hot Kits section contains mainly 1:76 Airfix kits applicable to both sites.

It might be better to limit hot kits to those only listed on RWM?

I think we need to change the contents box which works well for kits but we need some additions.
Couplers (Kadee for example),
For most RTR locomotives what is in the box is either

1) Metal (brass) model
2) Plastic model

Plus separate grab irons, brake hoses and other detail items, choice of couplers

Where do we add whether the model is DCC ready or DCC equipped?

yes; for some scales/gauges this will be a bit duplicate. But having them seperate makes sense

Notifications seem unified between scalemates and railway mates. Let’s say I click on a notification for something that happened on scalemates while logged in to railwaymates. I can read it but if I click on the user profile and they only have a scalemates profile I get a blank page with “this user isn’t active on this site”. Maybe the event streams from the sites should be separated? Not sure what the solution is.

Not sure if this is fixable, but references seem kind of odd on railwaymates. For instance my twin log cabins project, the kit has suggested references of "defense of the third reich" and such which, while amusing, aren't really germane.

The scale 1:43.5 does not appear in the drop-down list when you search, even though there are many entries. It should also have a box saying "0 (UK)" after it. Note that it should strictly speaking be numeral 0 and not capital letter O, just as it is H0 (half 0) and not HO.

While on the subject, 1:48 should have a box "0 (US)".

Both 1:22.5 and 1:22,5 (decimal point and decimal comma) currently exist; should be standardized to 22.5, I guess. It should also have scale letter "G", today missing for 1:22.5.

Allow the admin to mark (unwanted) catch all topics as "too generic". Visually show they are too generic and should be avoided

This to avoid that they keep growing as well as give the OK to clean them up (and create likely new topics)

There is something wrong with this Brand in the database:
RWM Brand: Oxford
It is not possible to add new kits, even when basing them on existing items; any info entered is just deleted when pressing save. I've tried in Scale, Railway and Diecast. This is not a new issue, I first came across it several weeks ago. I suspect the problem may be caused by some corruption between the several Oxford brands.

I wonder if it would be possible to copy entries across Scalemates and Railwaymates, merge our stashes, or have a single database for both? I accidentally added a kit to the Scalemates database that should have been in Railwaymates. I realize this feature request may be a technical lift - just a suggestion for when/if there is time.

Bulk change all "wheel sets" on RWM from "completed" models to "detail & conversion" sets

This is targeted at sound, light, smoke sets to upgrade another kit

(we could argue it fits under "detail" sets but it splitting them makes sense)
