There are a slew of items misclassified as Trident jets because of the brand name:
RWM Topic: Hawker Siddeley Trident
Many are hard to immediately class correctly. Might be best to move them all to Uncategorised as a temporary measure.

This items are also impossible to edit, since the illustration covers the Edit button; presumably some kind of bug:
Depot (3-ständig) Pflastersteine (Tillig 87131, 1:87)
Ausweiche rechts (1-spurig) ..rsteine (Tillig 87116, 1:87)

Presumably also why they have not been assigned a category!

These items look odd and apparently can't be edited:
Kühlwg. MK-4, Interfrigo (Tillig 76599, 1:87)
Begleitwagen HUPAC (SBB) (Tillig 74854, 1:87)
Something to do with the box art size, maybe?
Actually, there are several more with the same problem in this brand.

The scale 1:43.5 does not appear in the drop-down list when you search, even though there are many entries. It should also have a box saying "0 (UK)" after it. Note that it should strictly speaking be numeral 0 and not capital letter O, just as it is H0 (half 0) and not HO.
While on the subject, 1:48 should have a box "0 (US)".
Both 1:22.5 and 1:22,5 (decimal point and decimal comma) currently exist; should be standardized to 22.5, I guess. It should also have scale letter "G", today missing for 1:22.5.

The search engine and stash does not show its full potential due to missing data under markings.
While not perfect we can bulk create some markings on RWM as the title often has the name of the organisation (eg. SNCF, NMBS, SBB, ...)
eg. RWM Search: sncb

Thanks.

In general, what is the minimum number of items required to make it suitable to create a new Topic? (Assuming an adequate, more general Topic already exists.)
Realizováno
1 May, 19:52

For cars/planes/ships it should be the family of the object. Thus in theory 1 kit in the topic can be fine.
We should also not create "bundled/generic" topics if not needed.
Not "Deutz tractors" (too broad) but the actual family/series should be the topic. If there is only 1 object it is still OK for the topic to be there
Not "Star Wars" for every thing linked to "Star wars", but the actual "type" of object
For accessories/non typed objects like buildings/trees/bridges/telepone poles/.... we can keep them in the same "generic topic"
If it warrants splitting/merging = debatable 🙂
(We once had a single topic for everything which was a building. Watertowers/houses/factories)... as more data comes in = we split/merge/....
2 May, 05:54

eg. This topic is too broad and should be split (if possible) into the individual families of vehicles they produced. Not easy when the product title does not provide that info. (and these catch all topics are created = ok, but ideally are cleaned up)
RWM Topic: Magirus
2 May, 06:03

eg. yesterday I created several new topics and removed items from the generic catch all RWM Topic: Railroad coaches and created named topics for several identifiable families of the same "type/brand"
RWM Topic: Eurofima, RWM Topic: Passenger coach EW IV and more
2 May, 06:09

I see it more of a practical problem. Not so much the work of creating new Topics as knowing what to call a specific item. The descriptions given by the kit manufacturers are often quite vague and it can be all but impossible to determine the type/model for an item, at least not without specialist knowledge. I've tried at times to figure out the year model of some blob-like car model and it can be very time-consuming and not very rewarding - and ultimately impossible for a non-specialist.
Also, the "families" can be extremely unequal in size, depending in part on how the original equipment manufacturers chose to handle the designations. Thus in aircraft we have the Bernard H.V.40, 41 and 42 Topics, each with one Item, and also Bf 109, with 6,448.

RWM Brand: Lionel Trains
has almost exclusively completed models in their range, but a large portion of the items in Railwaymates are listed as kits. Making a bulk change of all Full Kits to Completed Models will certainly improve the correctness in a major way.
I don't know what you prefer to class railway tracks as, though.

Man, trying to straighten up the railway models is a real uphill struggle. I guess a lot have been added by data files from other data bases and therefore have poor data field fits. I note that some 26 % lack Topics ...

Notifications seem unified between scalemates and railway mates. Let’s say I click on a notification for something that happened on scalemates while logged in to railwaymates. I can read it but if I click on the user profile and they only have a scalemates profile I get a blank page with “this user isn’t active on this site”. Maybe the event streams from the sites should be separated? Not sure what the solution is.
