Oooooh wouldn't it be nice to be modelling full time. It's all go here in Gorbyland, dogs to walk and naps to take. I don't know how I manage to fit it all in. 😉

Mangling the plastic is the easy bit, it's the colouring in afterwards I struggle with, but apparently it isn't the done thing to leave them in 50 shades of grey....now there's an Idea for a dio. 😉

gorby AuthorBack in the early 80's I used to work for a company which found that for many years one of the employees had been spending all day just walking around the site โ with a clipboard. I often used to see him walk by but as you say, no one questioned him. It turns out that even he couldn't remember what he was originally employed to do! 😄

Incidentally, due to a house move I tried to sell this dio on Ebay. Considering the time effort and expense I thought ยฃ250 was a reasonable price, the downside is they would have to collect it as this would be impossible to post. No one was interested and I wasn't going to sell it for any less. 🙁

When you see the equipment on your diorama, it's a really low price, but those who don't do model building don't realize the time and patience it takes to make a diorama like that. I sold my 1/12 scale Porsche 935 to a Swiss man living in America for 250 Swiss francs. That's also a modest price, and I was surprised it arrived undamaged. But he was happy, and so was I, and that's what matters. Best regards, see you soon.

Mr DI see, l had a move myself a year ago...... Takes time to get everything settled. I had bit of a break over the summer, was working on my Vespa l got in the spring ๐ผ ๐ฑ then riding ect.
I started back by finishing my su47 .....and was all fingers n thumbs for a while ๐คฃ.
Good luck with everything hope all your builds survived the move. .. especially the invacar .... really like that one ๐๐๐

The enforced modelling break may be even longer than I first envisioned as there are problems sorting out access to the loft room (future modelling room). I'm really missing it. 🙁

This retirement business isn't all about sitting around modelling and listening to music you know.
Ooooh! Apparently it is. (Hate mail to the usual address.) 🙂
I built this as part of a group build on another site. Mind you, I think I heard the deadline zoom past a few months back. You know how it is, "Yes, I can definitely do that in three months"โฆ.and more bits keep getting added. At the end of the second month I confidently predicted each month that I'd got about one more months work to do. It took me six months, spread over most of this year and I'm just pleased the bloody thing is done. Now I can get on and do something less pointlessโฆ.obviously that's never going to happen is it. Fortunately only 1/72 scale dust has settled on it in that time and rather than go to the effort of dusting it, I'm calling it weathering.
I would have loved to make the base wider, but I have history with making dio's too big to fit into my storage cupboard and I was determined that this will be an exception. Stop making big dio's you plonker!
I tend to prefer non-action dioramas. Perhaps it's something to do with being a non-action person. Given half a chance, men will stand around with their hands in their pockets hoping that no one will give them any work to do. I know the feeling well. 🙂
As his advice was a great help in painting the figures, I'm dedicating this build to my departed friend Paul/Phoenix54.
Sorry about the amount of pics, I got a bit carried away. 🙂
