The Essence of scale modeling

The essence of scale modeling? 

Just having fun, of course 

The little seascape I made during a workshop at the club 

The nutshell ship I had lingering around, unfinished...  

so I decided to finish it and put it to sea 

All I used was a nutshell, some toothpicks, a few wooden stirring sticks and some string, the sails are paper. 

This HMS Walnut is one I made earlier 

this one was buildt as an exercise in tying nots on a smal model 

Recently, I decided to add a few more details to this little one. So I added sails to the bowsprit, anchors, and extra rigging to the sails. 

I did this because I had registered it for the competition at the Belgian IPMS Nationals Plastic & Steel, where I found this little piece of paper next to my walnut boat. 

That evening I was allowed to attend the award ceremony. Thanks to fellow model builder Guy for the photo. 

I celebrated my silver medal with a glass of Talisker when I got home
